Discovery @ Brookview Elementary

Saturday, December 1 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (East Point)

The Hands On Atlanta Discovery program is a volunteer-led Saturday tutoring and enrichment program. The program reinforces weekday learning through academic assistance, educational games, field trips, service-learning projects, and other enrichment activities. Students are engaged in a variety of subjects depending on the needs of their particular schools. Our goal is to have a one-on-one volunteer to student ratio, allowing for individualized attention and the building of relationships between students and volunteers.


Share A Story With A Child

Wednesday November 28 From 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (Glenwood Park, Atlanta)

At Pajama Program, we promote a comforting bedtime routine for children affected by instability to help them thrive. At the Atlanta Reading Center, our programming focuses on shared reading between a child and an adult volunteer. Reading Buddies are paired with school age children during our one hour Reading Party to do shared reading. During shared reading, Reading Buddies may read between 1 and 4 books and engage in conversations that inspire creativity. Afterwards, children will select a book to take home with the help of their Reading Buddy.


Talk with me Baby @ Work: Facilitator Orientation and Training

Thursday November 29 From 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Westside Atlanta)

Talk With Me Baby @ Work is a program created through a partnership between GEEARS: The Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students and the Rollins Center for Language and Literacy at the Atlanta Speech School that provides parents and caregivers of young children, as well as expecting parents, with tools and strategies to support early brain and language development. Volunteers will learn how to facilitate courses at local businesses to train parents and caregivers of ages birth through 5 or expecting parents on techniques to improve the outcomes of reading scores by the third grade.


Clark Howard's Christmas Kids: Warehouse Volunteer

Friday November 30 with shifts From 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM (East Point)

For 26 years, Clark Howard has been providing Christmas gifts to foster children in the state of Georgia. St. Vincent de Paul Georgia, along with WSB TV/Talk Radio, the Georgia Department of Human Services, and Walmart, work with Clark to insure that every child has gifts to open on Christmas morning. We need energetic volunteer leaders to help support the volunteer director by providing structure and direction for volunteers. Volunteers will load and unload trucks containing gifts, sort and bag the gifts for the child, label gifts by county and nsure each child receives the correct gifts.

Atlanta BeltLine Eastside 10k 2018

Wednesday November 21 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (South Fulton)

The Atlanta BeltLine is sparking a fun culture of health, activity, and community in Atlanta. By providing parks, trails, transit and affordable in-town living – and by partnering with like-minded organizations – the Atlanta BeltLine is creating unique opportunities for healthier, more sustainable living in Atlanta Now in its 8th year, the 2018 Atlanta BeltLine Run.Walk.Go! Race Series is the perfect chance to explore various trail segments and stay active. Volunteers will help with set up and clean up, handing out water, shirts, check-in and various other race day needs.
