Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. King at the Center

  • National Center for Civil and Human Rights 100 Ivan Allen Junior Boulevard Northwest Atlanta, GA, 30313 United States (map)

+ Story Time and Activity | 12PM – 4PM | 3rd Floor Mezzanine

Young visitors will have the opportunity to experience story time and read long with, “Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr.?” by Lisbeth Kaiser and Stanley Chow. The book is an overview of King’s life for young children, and connects The Center’s newest Dr. King exhibit,  Now Is the Time: Remembering the Legacy of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom to King’s I Have a Dream speech. We link the book and theme by having the activity be a crossword puzzle based on the speech.

+ King Activity Card

The King Pledge card will be given to all ages and inspires all to act. On one side there will be an Acts of Service Challenge, where several prompts will be listed to inspire the visitor to help their community. The other side will be a small activity where visitors can choose what King stood for, alongside a QR code that has an animated version of the I Have a Dream speech (from Center partner Stanford University.)

+  Children’s Giveaway | 12PM – 4PM | 3rd Floor Mezzanine

Giveaways will also be provided for the King celebration. The Center will be handing out cards, buttons, pencils, and notebooks.
