Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Report
Dear friends and supporters,
Fiscal year 2024 was an unprecedented year of impact for Hands On Atlanta. We brought back our beloved High Five Party to announce our 1,000,000th volunteer (with a little help from our good friend, Mayor Dickens). In addition to this incredible milestone for our organization, we grew our most important metric - people engaged - to just over 62,000 people. This is an increase of about 55% over the previous 5 years of work. Combined with another impressive cohort of AmeriCorps members, we tallied just over 250,000 hours served in our community - a value of $8.3M. Amazing!
With a healthy emergency fund and consistent years of financial surplus, FY24 also provided an opportunity to invest back in our team. I’m thrilled we have the ability to grow our culture, reinforce our CARE values (Collaborative, Authentic, Relentless, Entrepreneurial) and impact for years to come.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your unwavering support turns our mission from an idea into a vibrant reality. Thanks for being a part of our journey.

Hands On Atlanta Week
For the 2023 edition of Hands On Atlanta Week, presented by Delta Air Lines, more than 2,500 volunteers supported over 50 nonprofits and schools at 250 projects! The focus for the week prioritized projects around our three strategic impact areas - Food Security, Educational Equity and Environmental Sustainability.
Education Programs
The quest of the Education Programs Team at Hands On Atlanta is to improve educational outcomes and directly confront systemic injustice for students and families across metro Atlanta. We aim to be the premier team tackling educational inequities for children from birth to 12th grade in partnership with our local institutions and organizations.
During SY24, three key programs anchoredHands On Atlanta's education portfolio and impacted more than 12,000 students across metro Atlanta: AmeriCorps, Discovery, and Meals4Kids. As an organization, we are proud of our results, but we understand there are many miles to go before our students and families have the quality of life they deserve.
OUR EDUCATION PARTNERS
TUTORING + COACHING
52 AmeriCorps members provided over 72,00 hours of service to 402 students in grades K-12 across 15 schools in three school districts in SY24. Students in schools with AmeriCorps members improved 86% in math and 83% in ELA.
MEALS4KIDS
Part of our wraparound support provides meals for students aimed to combat food insecurity. Philanthropic and volunteer support from our corporate partners make this program possible. This year, we proudly delivered meals to 11,212 families.
Our AmeriCorps members had a tremendous impact across metro Atlanta schools during SY24. Serving a full 10-month service term, members contributed to our students' academic and social-emotional growth throughout the school year. Members served K-12students as ELA/math tutors and social-emotional learning coaches. We were excited to expand our footprint into DeKalb CountySchools to help The Anchor School in their inaugural year, and we look forward to continued expansion into other districts beginning in SY25.

MLK days of service
The 2024 MLK Days of Service, presented by Delta Air Lines, set out to showcase the good we can create by coming together to help build Dr. King’s “Beloved Community.” More than 3,000 volunteers stepped up to serve over January 11-15, 2024 braving cold temps to support 50 nonprofits and schools across metro Atlanta.
COMMUNITY + Civic ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Our Community + Civic Engagement team provides programming and capacity-building resources to 150 of the most effective and impactful nonprofits in the Atlanta community, who are focused primarily on food security, educational equity, and environmental sustainability. The resources range from powering their impact via volunteer recruitment, to placing leadership volunteers (our Civic Fellows) with nonprofits who act as host sites, to providing high quality trainings & trend reports on volunteer engagement – plus, tons more.
In FY24, we launched a Steering Committee of 10 nonprofits, providing input & insights in our programming to ensure it’s truly driven by those who benefit from it. We also brought on 17 new partners, retaining 87% of our partnership base from FY23. In addition to these wins, we grew our Civic Leadership Program by 50% and significantly moved the needle in our core impact areas.
