Keep North Fulton Beautiful

Friday October 11 From 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Sandy Springs)

Storm drain markers are an important way of informing the public not to dump oil, trash, paint, or other pollutants into roadside storm drains. Volunteers with the storm drain marking program affix specially designed labels to storm drains in neighborhoods, using provided materials. The labels warn residents that everything that enters a storm drain flows untreated into a nearby waterway. Volunteers will need one car for every 2-4 volunteers to complete this project. The opportunity for volunteers to assist with sorting recycling materials and general operation of the recycling center would still be open as well.

Trees Atlanta Forest Restoration

Saturday, October 12 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (NW Atlanta)

Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens’ group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. The vast majority of the work we do is accomplished with the help of volunteers including all the trees we plant and much of our invasive plant removal!
October 12th Project: Help remove invasive plants from Underwood Hills Park to promote a healthy plant community! We'll be cutting and pulling these fast-growing plants that prevent our native plants from thriving.

Discovery Program @ Usher Collier Elementary

Saturday, October 12, 2019 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (NW Atlanta)

The Hands On Atlanta Discovery program is a volunteer-led Saturday tutoring and enrichment program. The three-hour session occur twice a month from 9am to 12pm. The program reinforces weekday learning through academic assistance, educational games, field trips, service-learning projects, and other enrichment activities. Students are engaged in a variety of subjects depending on the needs of their particular schools. The Discovery program is currently recruiting School Captains, Grade Captains and Volunteers who are willing to adopt a school twice a month for 2 months or more to help facilitate our program. Our goal is to have a one-on-one volunteer to student ratio, allowing for individualized attention and the building of relationships between students and volunteers.
